Hello Everyone!
I hope that you had a great week! The long weekend was a nice break, but we Domainers never stop do we? This leads me to the topic for today which is "Domaining as a Job"! I first want to go to the video below because whether you are new to Domaining, a part timer, or a full timer you can't help but get a little excited when watching this video!

Well how about that! It seems that the value of quality domains will continue to increase and increase. I think we already knew that, but if you are a Domainer/Investor how can you not love your job!
I think most people who stick with it eventually find their niche, reach a plateau and then begin to grow. Domainers are entrepreneurs which means obviously you are building a business. Every business takes some time to build and grow. Very few today start by finding that 1 domain which takes them to riches. if you are one of the lucky ones who does find the "Needle in the Haystack" to start I congratulate you!
I think the bottom line is that as a Domainer you love what you do! Don't you? Just find a way to make money at it and all will be good. I welcome feedback here if you would like to comment as to the approach you have taken to be successful!

New Happenings at HeadlineDomains.com

I went over to the South Florida Domainers meeting last night in Boca Raton. We live on the other Florida coast near Boca Grande so it was about a 3 hour drive for us. There was a nice turn out of about 30 people, but I think others who usually would attend had gotten an early start on the 4th of July weekend. The meeting was sponsored by ".CO", and Lori Anne Wardi who is the Director of Marketing put on a nice presentation.
There are always questions as to how a new extension will do in the market, but Lori presented a good case in my opinion as to the expectation of success for .CO 1. A familiar term as everyone immediately thinks of company. 2. The world is full of 'Co" - Cooperation, Compatible, Community, Communication as she explained.
.CO is the Country code for Colombia and there were some concerns raised by the crowd as to the long term security in investing in .CO or publishing a site on .CO Lori presented the case that the long term success is in the best interest of Colombia and the Country is strongly behind this release.
I for one think the extension will do well and we all know the .com world is very crowded. .CO offers the opportunity to possibly get the domain you want and after the world realizes .CO is not a misspell for .Com the extension should be off and running. We will see, but this release is quite interesting to me.

Going to New Zealand!

I don't have a topic of "Hot Conversation" today so I am going to spend a little time speaking of our "Daily Domain Steal"!

I have never been to New Zealand, but sure enjoy doing the research. This is definitely a destination that is on my list of places to visit!
Auckland is nicknamed the 'City of Sails" by the local residents due to it's beautiful waterside location. The City was #4 in 2009 on the "Mercer Quality of Living Survey". The Planet Earth is a big place so to be chosen #4 is "Quite a Statement"!!
The population of this City is 1.4 Million and it has the largest Polynesian Population of any City in the World. I found this to be an interesting fact. The One That Got Away!

I hope that you had a nice weekend! Back to work today, but hope you have a little time to think about Domaining! After all it is a 7 day per week job, Right!
How often have you found a real domain gem dropping that you really wanted to get? I found one over the weekend and really had my sights set on it. I decided to put 3 back orders on it from what I consider to be the 3 best at capturing domains. There is another back order source that I use sometimes, but they usually aren't successful in the capture so I didn't put a back order through them.
Guess What? The company I didn't use captured the domain and boy was I frustrated! I guess there is a lesson to learned here and I hope I was smart enough to learn it. If you really want the domain put all of the backorders that you can on it!!!!!
You must be wondering by now what the domain was that I was so anxious to pick up. Ok it was FishMexico.com!! This is a good one in my book so Congratulations to the eventual registrant of this domain (I think it is going to auction as more than one person must have back ordered it).
The 'Daily Domain Steal" is another Real Estate domain. We promised to bring you one each day and will do that. These domains are highly marketable to the local Real Estate Community so they are good to hold as an investment or market to an end user.

I hope that you had a nice weekend and that you were outside enjoying your Spring Weather. If you are in Tennessee or the Central US where all of the rain and Flooding is taking place you are probably saying this guy is "Crazy"!!
Anyway, it was a beautiful weekend here on Florida's Gulf Coast. I actually had the opportunity to spend some time on the beach at Boca Grande and it was beautiful. If you have been there then you know, but it not Boca Grande should definitely be on your list of places to visit.
We have been out of touch for a month or so due to family illness. I am starting to get back into the swing of things and am trying to catch up on the Domain market a bit. How are things for you in the Domaining world these days?
Do you subscribe to Rick Latona's newsletter? Are you familiar with his week long auctions that he has started selling private portfolios. Most of the auctions are set with $1 reserve and that has been quite an attention getter! There are some great deals in these auctions.
I speak of this from a personal perspective as I actually have a 7 day auction running at Latonas.com There are 85 domains in this auction and all started with a $1 reserve. Some domains now have bids, but there others still sitting there waiting for the first bid. My auction (identified as Michael Dew on the Latona's list of active auctions) runs until 6pm on May 7th. There are some serious bargains on this list and I encourage you to take a look. There are Deals there for sure!

I have just gotten back from two weeks of travel. We ventured up into the cold and snowy North East and just returned home to Florida. It sure is nice to be back and am counting the days until we can get back in the pool!!

HELLO EVERYONE!!! | We are back from DomainFest 2010 and had an absolutly great time! In my last post I mentioned that I had won the contest sponsored by Root Orange. I cannot thank Frank and Camilo (from Root Orange) enough as Barb and I got more out of attending the conference than we could ever have imagined. Congratulations are in Order for Camilo Acosta, Frank Langston and the Root Orange Team. They won the "Peoples Choice" award at DomainFest which is quite an accomplishment. They were competing against at least 7 other firms which were there to introduce new monetization options for domains. If you have not yet looked at the Root Orange Program I highly encourage you to do so. They are looking for .com domains which represent generic local goods and services. An example would be DivorceLawyer.com and I believe this domain is now in their program. The system allows the domains in their program to be leased to businesses in 210 metropolitan areas throughout the US. This means that a "Divorce Lawyer" in Denver can have the domain as well as another Lawyer in Boston, Baltimore, etc. While at DomainFest we met many industry professionals just sitting at the breakfast table, standing in the hallway, etc. The networking events were exceptional offering great opportunity to compare notes with other domainers.
